In our “Academic” program, we work in alliance with renowned educational institutions: Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS), EARTH University, universities, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations that play an important role in the generation of knowledge, education and outreach activities at local, regional, national and global levels.One quarter of Costa Rica’s territory is set aside in protected areas or national parks. The remarkable variety of ecosystems found in the country reflects the effort to preserve our natural resources. A good example of this effort and many other initiatives is the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) created to face the challenges associated with rapid urbanization, agricultural development and climate change.
